The FDA extended the FSMA 204 compliance date from January 2026 to July 20, 2028. For suppliers and food trading partners that paused their readiness work, the extension creates more time to prepare, test processes, and close data gaps.

The FSMA 204 Food Traceability Rule requires companies handling foods on the Food Traceability List (FTL) to maintain detailed records of how products move through the supply chain.
